RollStream Program Helps Rx Chains Comply with CPSIA

February 12, 2010

Chain Drug Review

“RollStream Inc. is offering a program to help pharmacy chains and other retailers join its Certificate Exchange Network (CEN), developed with assistance from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores to facilitate compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).”

RollStream Urges Retailers to Meet CPSIA Guidelines; Join Other Leading Retailers in the CEN

McLean, Va. – February 9, 2010 – RollStream, the leader in Enterprise Community Management, is urging retailers to join its Certificate Exchange Network (CEN) to demonstrate compliance with those products affected by Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 by the February 10, 2010 deadline.  Non-compliance can result in substantial government fines and negatively impact a company’s brand.  RollStream has developed a solution, with the help of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), that helps businesses with compliance.

The company is also announcing the CEN Retailer Enablement Program designed to help retailers understand how the new legislation affects them and how best to get their trading partners in the network.

“Joining the more than 50,000 suppliers, manufacturers and distributors in the RollStream community, many NACDS retailers and manufacturers have become part of the CEN, to demonstrate their commitment to product safety and compliance, and ultimately reduce the risk of non-compliance that could adversely impact their brand and reputation,” said Kristin Muhlner, RollStream CEO.

CPSIA imposes new product safety testing and information sharing requirements on certain consumer products.  While the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) granted a one-year stay of testing and certification requirements for certain products to February 10, 2011, many products remain affected by this legislation.  All affected products must be accompanied by General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs), either in paper or electronic form, demonstrating that the product has been tested and meets appropriate safety standards – such as child-resistant packaging on products like acetaminophen, batteries, cosmetics and mouthwash.  To see the full list of products requiring GCC’s, see the CPSC: http://www.cpsc.gov/businfo/reg1.html.

RollStream has developed the CEN, an online network of retailers, manufacturers and distributors of consumer products that enables the exchange of GCCs to demonstrate compliance with the CPSIA by the upcoming deadline.  RollStream’s CEN is purpose-built to help businesses boost efficiency and effectiveness of their CPSIA compliance efforts, reduce risks and minimize costs.

Using this technology, manufacturers can directly post GCC’s to the network or provide links to certificates stored on their website.  With a simple, easy-to-use browser interface, retailers can securely download any product certificate needed to demonstrate CPSIA compliance within seconds.  This allows retailers and manufactures to significantly reduce their risk of non-compliance.

The impact of the CPSIA is significant to both manufactures and retailers.  RollStream executives understand this, as well as the intricacies of CPSIA, and are available to discuss it.  Follow updates and news about RollStream, CPSIA and deadlines on Twitter at http://twitter.com/rollstream/cpsia

As CPSIA Kicks in This Week, Retailers Urged to Join Certificate Exchange Network

ROLLSTREAM DELIVERS NETWORK TO HELP BUSINESSES WITH CPSIA COMPLIANCE

Solution to boost effectiveness of compliance for retailers, manufacturers and distributors

McLean, Va. - January 11, 2010 – RollStream, the leader in Enterprise Community Management, today announced availability of the Certificate Exchange Network (CEN).  The CEN is an online network of retailers, manufacturers and distributors of consumer products.  It enables the exchange of General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs) to demonstrate compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 by the February 10, 2010 deadline.

RollStream’s CEN is purpose-built to help businesses boost efficiency and effectiveness of their CPSIA compliance efforts, reduce risks and minimize costs.  Manufacturers can directly post GCC’s to the network or provide links to certificates stored on their website.  With a simple, easy-to-use browser interface, retailers can securely download any product certificate needed to demonstrate CPSIA compliance within seconds.

The impact of the CPSIA is significant to both manufactures and retailers as it imposes new product safety testing and information sharing requirements on certain consumer products.  All affected products must be accompanied by GCCs, either in paper or electronic form, demonstrating that the product has been tested and meets appropriate safety standards – such as child-resistant packaging on products like acetaminophen, batteries, cosmetics and mouthwash.  With the new legislation, retailers and manufactures face substantial Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) fines if they are unable to prove compliance quickly.  RollStream’s CEN reduces this risk.

“RollStream’s proven history in streamlining supplier collaboration for Fortune 500 retailers coupled with our deep understanding of the CPSIA made our platform the logical solution for addressing the complexities introduced by the new legislation,” said Kristin Muhlner, CEO of RollStream. “We are thrilled to be delivering a solution that enables both retailers and manufacturers to reduce the risks and minimize the costs associated with compliance, especially given today’s turbulent economic climate.”

RollStream is already working with the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) to provide their members access to the CEN free of charge.  RollStream is also hosting, in conjunction with NACDS, a webinar that highlights best practices manufacturers and retailers should follow to get ready for the February 2010 compliance deadline.  The webinar will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 3 p.m. EST.  Registration can be found at http://www.rollstream.com/news/category/webinars.  Also for more information about the solution, please follow-us on Twitter:  http://twitter.com/rollstream/cpsia.
